Our Prayers: The Klicka Family
Our hearts and prayers go out to the Klicka family today.
“Chris was both a people person and a goal person. He cared deeply about people, but was also driven to always do more!” says HSLDA President J. Michael Smith. “He was the most determined person I ever met in my life. Even with all the things he accomplished every day at HSLDA, he continually wanted to tackle new challenges and serve homeschoolers in more and better ways. He was so focused on the homeschooling world, but he was also very much focused on his family and dedicated to raising his children.”

Let it Snow...Let it Snow...Let it Snow!!!
They say that today could be a record breaker. It hasn't snowed this much, this early, in 60 years! It's put us all in a very festive mood. Much to the dismay of certain family members we have done the unthinkable.....put on Christmas music! LOL We also fixed a special breakfast and had homemade chili and cornbread for lunch. Yum!! The girls are right now as I type, playing outside in the snow. What a wonderful treat! One of my all time FAVORITE meals! The recipe comes from the BEST cookbook called Fix Freeze Feast by Katie Neville and Lindsay Tkacsik. Once a month the girls and I spend time preparing meals and then freezing them. We used to spend a weekend, now we break it up over the course of a week. It's much more fun that way. I highly recommend it as both a time saver as well as a money saver too.
Well, I'm off to enjoy this winter wonderland!!
Rosebud is always checking cookbooks out from the library. I think she's the one who found this cute idea. It's just a pancake put into a cupcake tin and baked briefly to hold the shape. Then filled with berries and topped with whipping cream. YUM!!
Well, I'm off to enjoy this winter wonderland!!

Rosebud's 8th Birthday
It has become our annual tradition. We all go to Valley Fair, an amusement park for Rosebud's birthday. I personally LOVE roller coasters, and all things fast and high! I love the feeling it leaves in my stomach. And so from the time they were young.....I have taught them the finer points of enjoying amusement park rides! LOL Rosebud, being the youngest hasn't always been able to ride all the adult rides as she is not tall enough yet. So every year she gets her highest heel shoes on and stands straight and tall to see if she's tall enough yet. And every year she can ride a few more than last year.....but not quite all of them yet. Much to her dismay I might add. But this year she was thrilled that there were only two rides in the whole park that she couldn't ride. Yeah!! This would be her first ever ride on the Power Tower. She LOVED it!! I had just gotten my trach out and so I wasn't able to go on any water rides this year. Major bummer. But as you can see.....the girls got plenty wet on the log ride!!
She adores her sisters!!
You know....I must admit.....that as much as I love roller coaster rides.....I hate rides like this. I wouldn't let them rock at all. I'm not quite sure why it freaks me out so much. Maybe the openness (is that a word) of it all.
All WET!! And lovin it!!
Her name means God's Gift of Love. And that is exactly what she is to me!!
Her joy is contagious. It's impossible to be sad for long when she's around. She was given this cute birthday ribbon by her cousin. She played a game and counted all the people who told her, "Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!" She lost count after 100.....we were there all day!
She was giddy with anticipation of riding the Wild Thing. Of course, since she was the birthday girl, she got to decide where and with whom she rode each ride. As you can see, she thought front and center was well worth the wait!!We had a wonderful time together this summer. I guess I should mention that her birthday is actually the end of May, but I didn't have a blog back then. And these pics were just too cute to pass up! I love you Rosebud!
Munsinger Gardens
Munsinger Gardens is an informal garden of 14 acres with winding flower-bordered paths under tall pines. The grass flows between the organic shapes of island beds much like the river beside it. It's breathtaking scenery gives us a tiny glimpse of what the Garden of Eden might have looked like! Magnificent!! This is what I get at the end of the day after taking over 100 pictures of my beauties! LOL
However, my little rosebud was not camera shy at all. She was "cheesin" for me every chance she got! LOL

Her favorite color is purple.....so we had to get a pic of her in front of all the beautiful purple flowers!
She loved the fountain....."Take a picture Mom!!"
Can you say, "All I want for Christmas is my two (four) front teeth!"
Isn't this the cutest well? There was a little bridge and a fountain right behind it too. It was like a 100 perfect little gardens all within a larger one.
Children's Museum
We went to the Children's Museum with my brother's family today. We had such an amazing time together!! It's a wonderful thing to see all these children being raised in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Not only am I a proud mama, but also a proud Aunt! Rosebud and her cousin are "kindred spirits" as Anne of Green Gables would say. They both have a beautiful gift of making people feel loved. They easily make friends wherever they go and freely give hugs and kisses to brighten your day. They also......never stop talking!! LOL
This room was called, "Trash Bash." We used recycled and reused materials to create art, music and imaginative play activities. This pic is of Trash Mountain, an interactive exhibit that included a collection of trash from one family of four for one year. Can you say NASTY?!?!?!
All the kids had a great time creating their masterpieces. It's amazing what children can create when allowed to use their imaginations!
My sister-in-law is the most beautiful example of a Titus 2 woman that I know. She has a passion for raising children that bring honor to the Lord. She also is a beautiful picture of what God desires a wife to be. My girls are blessed beyond measure to have her as a role model in their lives. I treasure our times together.

Morning Surprises!!
The first snow is always such an exciting time for the girls. Their squeals of delight when they look out the window and discover everything is white are priceless! They LOVE winter!! But I have to say that October 10th is just TOOOOOOO early for me! Thankfully, I had already pulled out our fall/winter clothes, coats, boots etc. So here are my younger two by 8am this morning! There's just enough snow on the ground/hills to be slippery and fun, the sun is shining although it's only 27 degrees, our home is warm with the smell of cinnamon rolls baking, and Pillar and I have got our noses in our new favorite books!! What a wonderful Saturday morning!!

Paper Route
On Saturday we subbed for a friends paper route. Boy things have changed since I was a kid "on a bike" with a route. I don't have the fondest memories, especially collecting the money. Yuck!! But doing this in the van with the girls was a BLAST!! We had so much fun!! It was a lot of work, but we enjoyed it. We had 4 local papers, a Menard's add, as well as a Fleet Farm add to collate. There were about 500 each. That's a lot of paper! LOL We each had a job to do. Miracle and Rosebud did the collating, Pillar did the distributing, while I did the driving. I promised Pillar that I would disclose the fact that I "nicked" not "hit" 10 mailboxes.....out of close to 500. I don't think that's too bad! lol It was much harder than I anticipated. Each box was a different height and distance from the curb. In an effort to get as close as possible for Pillar......sometimes I "bumped" it. lol
