The Tabernacle

The last few months we've read through several of the Old Testament books of the Bible. We use Balancing the Sword as a guide and I can't recommend it highly enough. It has transformed our bible time together. We have such rich discussions!! This is now one of my most favorite times of the day....the time we spend together reading His Word!

We first learned of the Ark of the Covenant and the Tabernacle in Exodus, and then learned all about the offerings and sacrifices in Leviticus and Numbers. We haven't made it through the entire Torah yet as we alternate back and forth between Old and New Testament books to give a full picture of God's heart. We also learned about the same time period in history. (Mystery of History Vol. I) It was fun how everything tied together. I love it when God does that!!

Now we've been reading in I Chronicles when David returns the Ark to Jerusalem. So I thought it would be fun to make a model of what we had been studying all this time. We used A Kregel Pictorial Guide, Tabernacle Model. It includes an authentic die-cut cardboard scale model to build. I've included it in my side bar widget if you're interested. It was worth every penny spent! The girls have had so much fun "playing" with it....acting out scenes from the Bible.

Here is a little video tour the girls did together to show you the Ark of the Covenant and the Tabernacle that we built. They're a little silly!!

That was great! What a cool model! They will never forget that!
